Types of Sideboards

Whether you choose a small sideboard for the hallway or a large sideboard for the living room, there are various styles to choose from. A small sideboard often features two doors and is a ideal for glassware or can be used as a drinks cabinet, which would sit perfectly in the kitchen. Choose a wooden sideboard like the Ella with a stylish parquet finish, for a Scandi-inspired feel. Create a Focal Point

Think about the entire room and not just the sideboard and consider creating a focal point. The sideboard is a large piece of furniture that will draw the eye immediately so why not create a feature. Hang a classic round mirror or a stylish arch mirror over a sideboard which will add interest to the room and reflect light creating the illusion of more space.

You could also incorporate wall art with family photos or your favourite prints. Hang art or prop it up at the centre of the sideboard. Don’t forget to style either side of the sideboard if there’s space an accent chair or a statement floor lamp could work well.

Create your very own sideboard décor by arranging a vignette of decorative ornaments. There are so many ways to style your piece but take into consideration the look and style of the sideboard you have as well as the rest of the room. Will your sideboard sit below a gallery wall or wall panelling, is there a coloured wool rug that would pop with a few smaller accessories in the same tone.

All these objects can create a beautiful and thoughtful display that shows off your interior personality. If your sideboard storage space is for drinks and glasses, then you could display pretty glassware on top of the sideboard. Why not create a cocktail making station adding an element of fun to your living room or dining room.

Adding subtle lighting here and there throughout the home is the perfect way to embrace ambience and cosiness. A sideboard is perfect for displaying small table lights. Opt for the Pimlico lamp featuring a fluted champagne coloured glass lamp shade. This elegant table lamp offers a warm glow and is not too stark which is ideal if your sideboard is in the living room.
