Hallway Storage Ideas

Hallway Storage Ideas

Although it may not be the place you spend most of your time, the hallway is most definitely a high traffic area that requires clever storage. The hallway sets the tone for the rest of your home, and it is the first room guests see when they enter your house. It is important to feel a sense of calm and relaxation when you come home leaving the day behind you. The hallway needs to be a hardworking area, with practical storage to help create an organised and clutter free space.

Shoe Cupboards & Benches

Unless you have the luxury of a boot room, the hallway is usually the place where all the family shoes are stored. If your shoes are slung in pile there is no hope of finding them in a hurry, so a dedicated spot for shoes is a hallway essential. Our range of shoe cabinets at Laura James offers a storage solution such as the Jack shoe cabinet for a contemporary look or the Fyfield shoe storage bench with handy baskets included. The Chatsworth bench combines storage with classic design offering a shelf for shoes and handy drawers. We also have tall and slim shoe cabinets like the Iliana designed for narrower spaces.

Coat Hooks & Cupboards

As we come into the colder months it will soon be time for boots, coats, and winter accessories, that will all need storing efficiently. A coat rack is a great way to organise coats and bags without taking up floor space. To stay organised try and limit the number of coats and jackets that are stored in the hallway. Simply keep everyday coats accessible and others can be stored in your wardrobe.

If you need easy access to hats and scarves or dog leads it would be useful to have some dedicated storage baskets. Cube units are great for keeping all this stuff hidden and the matching boxes help everybody stay organised.  Alternatively, a small hallway cupboard could keep those accessories out of sight.

Radiator Covers

The hallway often has a radiator, so to revamp your space why not use a radiator cover? Adding a stylish cover will not only add a contemporary look and feel but it will also create a shelf for one or two decorative accessories, like a plant or candle which will create a homely feel. Our selection of radiator covers includes traditional styles like the Edith to the modern styles like the Iliana. At Laura James we understand that radiators can differ in sizes throughout lots of homes which is why we have a choice of adjustable styles too.

Console Tables

A console table combines both style and function and is a beautiful piece of furniture to have in a hallway. They often include storage in the form of drawers or a shelf to keep shoes or storage baskets. Our selection of console tables features classic styles like the Bampton with drawer storage and shelf or the Chatsworth that comes in a beautiful chic slate grey hue. Alternatively, our Rayna black console table features an elegant art deco inspired design with gold hardware for a statement look.

To complete the look, add a few accessories to add your personal style, a rug, a plant or a scented candle or lamp will help create a cosy feel. Using a rug on hard floor will add warmth to the area, but it also needs to practical, a seagrass or jute rug is hard wearing making it a great option for this.
