How to Create a Christmas Vignette
With the festive season upon us it is time to start decorating your home with beautiful Christmas decorations. Laura James is pleased to introduce our first collection of Christmas accessories all designed to enhance your festive décor this Christmas. It’s time to get into the festive spirit and use your creative flair by styling a vignette.
Create a Focal Point
A vignette is a collection of items intentionally placed together creating a beautiful, layered look. When you create a vignette it’s important to create a focal point within it, such as a piece of artwork or an interesting accessory as the main feature, this will then help anchor the whole look. You can create a festive vignette anywhere in your home, shelves, windowsills or on the mantelpiece. Alternatively, create a display on a tray on your coffee table or sideboard.
The Right Proportions
A vignette draws the eye to a collection of beautiful things, however try not to use too many pieces to avoid the space looking cluttered. Start with your focal piece like our Sira large red ceramic tree, which is finished in a rich deep red and will add height to your display. Then you can begin to add other objects in different heights and sizes such as the Flivik tea light holder to add a touch of gold or the Ulven white star decoration. The Sira red tree is also available in 2 smaller sizes and can come as a set of 3 which could work beautifully creating different heights in a vignette. You may want to play around with the position of the objects a few times until you get the right combination.
Choose a Colour Palette
It may be Christmas, but you can still create a collection of accessories to look cohesive and blend with the rest of your festive décor and colour scheme. Our Larvik white house tea light holder are ideal for creating a warm and cosy look. Fresh white accessories including the Bergen LED light up ceramic trees and the Ulven star tea light holders are perfect for a Scandinavian inspired look. The Brockley set of 3 houses feature warm LED lights and are feature a smoked glass, clear glass and frosted glass house for a soft lighting effect. The different glass effects will add interest and ambience to your vignette display.
Play with Textures
For a festive finish you could incorporate foliage such as pieces of holly, eucalyptus or garlands along a shelf or mantelpiece. Get creative and see what you can find in your garden, think dried twigs or pinecones that can be paired with twinkling fairy lights for a festive look. Style trinkets and stacked vintage books with glass candle holders like the Dalen available in frosted glass or clear glass for a cosy feel. Have fun decorating your home for the festive season.
